How Far in Advance Should You Order Prom Flowers?

The Short Answer: As Soon as You Know Your Date
If your prom is coming up, the right time to order your corsage and boutonniere is now — not the week before. Here's why it matters, and what happens when you wait too long.
Why Ordering Early Gives You Better Flowers
When you order early, we have full flexibility on flower variety, ribbon color, and design. We can source exactly the right ranunculus, garden rose, or orchid to match your dress. We can special-order a ribbon in the exact shade of your gown. We can take our time and do it right.
When you order the week of prom, we're working with whatever inventory is available — and so is every other florist on the North Shore. Popular flowers sell out. Specific ribbon colors run out. And the designs that take a little more time and care get harder to guarantee on short notice.
Early orders get the full menu. Late orders get what's left.
Our General Timing Guidelines
Four or more weeks out: You have the most flexibility. We can order specialty flowers, plan detailed designs, and coordinate multiple orders for the same event or school. This is the ideal window.
Two to three weeks out: Still plenty of time for most designs. Most flower varieties are still available. A couple of weeks is when we start to see the rush, so don't wait much past this point if you want to be safe.
One week out: We'll do everything we can, but our options narrow. Some specific flowers may not be available, and we can't guarantee we'll have every ribbon color. Call us as early in the week as possible.
Day of or day before: We take last-minute orders when we can, but there are no guarantees on variety or design. If you're in this situation, call us first thing in the morning and we'll tell you honestly what's possible.
What We Need From You When You Order
Ordering is simple. When you call or stop in, it helps to have:
- The color of the dress — or better yet, a photo. A photo takes all the guesswork out of color matching and lets us get it exactly right.
- The color of the suit or tuxedo, if you're coordinating a boutonniere too.
- Your prom date and school, so we know our timing.
- Any flowers you love or want to avoid.
That's genuinely all we need. We'll handle the rest and have everything ready for pickup the day of prom.
For Couples Coordinating Together
If you're ordering a corsage and boutonniere as a couple, order them at the same time — ideally together. This is the best way to make sure the two pieces coordinate well. The boutonniere should echo the corsage, not match the suit, and when we design them together we can make sure the colors and flowers feel connected.

When We Get Busy
We work with a lot of North Shore schools — Peabody, Salem, Danvers, Marblehead, Beverly, and others — and we're familiar with local prom schedules. In the weeks leading up to major prom dates, our order volume goes up significantly. The earlier you're in the queue, the more attention your order gets.
Browse our prom collection or call us at 978-531-0047 to place your order. We're at 49 Warren Street in Peabody — stop in and bring a photo of the dress if you can.
