Anniversary Flowers: What to Get, What They Mean, and What to Write
Share
An anniversary is one of those occasions where the gesture matters as much as the gift itself. It's not just about showing up with something nice — it's about showing that you remembered, that you planned, and that the relationship you're celebrating is worth marking with something real.
Flowers do all of that. Here's how to choose the right ones — and what to write when you give them.
The Classic: Red Roses
Red roses mean love. They've meant love for centuries, across dozens of cultures, and they're not going to stop meaning love anytime soon. If you want to say I love you on your anniversary without a single word, a dozen red roses says it with perfect clarity. There's nothing wrong with the classic — sometimes the classic is classic for a reason.
Card ideas:
- "Every year with you is my favorite yet."
- "I'd choose you again. Every single day."
- "To many more years of this. I love you."
Something More Personal: Her Favorite Flower
If you know her favorite flower, get that. A bouquet built around the thing she actually loves will always beat the most expensive arrangement in the case. It says I pay attention — which might be the most romantic thing a person can say.
Card ideas:
- "I remembered. Happy anniversary."
- "Your favorites, for my favorite person."
- "I've been paying attention. Turns out I like you quite a bit."
For a Milestone Anniversary: Go Big
First anniversary, tenth, twenty-fifth, fiftieth — some anniversaries deserve something larger. A lush, full arrangement with premium blooms — garden roses, peonies, orchids, deep burgundies and blush pinks — signals that this is a moment you wanted to honor properly. For the bigger milestones, it's worth coming into the shop so we can build something truly spectacular together.
Card ideas:
- "[X] years. And I'd do every single one of them again."
- "Here's to the life we've built. I love it — and I love you."
- "You're still my favorite decision I ever made."
For a New Relationship: Keep It Romantic, Not Overwhelming
Early anniversaries — a first, a six-month, a one-year — call for something that feels romantic without being over the top. A beautiful hand-tied bouquet of soft pinks or peaches, or a mix of seasonal flowers, strikes the right note: thoughtful, genuine, and just the right amount of sentimental.
Card ideas:
- "One year of you. I'm a lucky person."
- "Happy anniversary. This has been my favorite year."
- "I like you more than I did a year ago. That says a lot."
